[VINMEC DA NANG] “BLESSED WITH THE CARE AND SUPPORT FROM DOCTORS, I’M IN DEBT OF YOU FOR ETERNITY”

These are the lines from Thank you letter by Mr. Fujinawa Mitsuhiro(60, Japanese) to the doctors and nurses in Recovery and Emergency Department, Vinmec Da Nang International General Hospital after safely returned home. The letter traveled over 2300 miles to the hands of doctor Nguyen Thai Tri, the person whom Mr. Fujinawa “will never forget for the rest of my life”.

With deep gratitude and regards towards the doctors and nurses, immediately after returning to Japan, Mr. Fujinawa Mitsuhiro has wrote a heartfelt letter which was personally handed to Dr. Nguyen Thai Tri, Head of Emergency, Vinmec Da Nang International General Hospital. In the letter, Mr. Fujinawa recalled the warm smile and genuine care of the doctors, which ensure him of a pleasant recovery, ease his mind in order to have a best time till fully recovered.

The heartfelt letter was carefully typed in double languages – Japanese and Vietnamese

On August 30 th , 2018, on the way to the airport, Mr. Fujinawa Mitsuhiro suddenly suffered from panic attack along with severe chest pain right behind the sternum with shortness of breath. He was admitted to Emergency in Vinmec Da Nang International General Hospital. In the process, he was in panic with constant concern over breathing difficulties and chocking, with pain behind the sternum.

Dr. Huynh Kim Long – Emergency Recovery from Vinmec Da Nang – immediately reassured the patient and proceeded with vagotomy but was unable to reduce rate of gastric secretion. After reviewing the patient’s medical history, it was clear that Mr. Fujinawa had been in the same situation before in Japan, which worsen by the fact that his heart was once stopped after Adenosin shot (heart arrhythmia treatment) in vein. His indication as of that moment was finished.

The doctor quickly injected Amiodarone via vein shot along with massaging carotid sinus, patient gradually eased out and after 15 minutes, his panic was over, the other symptoms as such palpitation, shortness of breath, strangling chest pain as well as supraventricular tachycardia were largely reduced. Eventhough, his heartbeat was still fast at about 115 to 125 times per min. He was requested to be admitted to ICU  for further observation until fully recovered.

Screening for myocardial infarction tests came in clean. The patient continued to be given Amiodarone via electrical pump and on oxygen support. He was carefully observed through-out the night until the condition was stablein the next morning, with the patient feeling well again and was quickly released in the afternoon.

Before leaving, Mr. Fujinawa shared that as he felt into panic, he was extremely worried and wished to return to Japan immediately, as he was unsure if the local hospitals were capable of saving his life. But as he was admitted to Vinmec Da Nang hospital, his worries was proven futile. Instead of what he feared might happened, Mr. Fujinawa received the utmost support and genuine care of the medical staff at Emergency and Recovery Department, especially from doctor Nguyen Thai Tri and Huynh Kim Long, who saved him from “death’s grip”.
